Puppies: Start allowing puppies access to AvoDerm® Triple Protein Meal Formula dog food about 3 weeks before weaning. The food can be moistened to help consumption, after weaning feed the puppy 3 - 4 times per day for the first 2 months, and then from 2 - 3 times per day until reaching Adult size, and then 1 - 2 times per day. Expect to feed 1 1/2 - 2 times the Adult feeding recommendation during the puppy's growing phase. Adjust the daily amount fed so the puppy maintains a good body condition.
Pregnant Females: During pregnancy increase the feeding amount during the last 1/3 of pregnancy to 1 1/2 times the amount recommended as shown for the Adult. Avoid excessive overfeeding, maintaining a good body condition, while preparing for whelp and nursing.
Lactating Females: A nursing female can expect to need 2 - 3 times as much food as recommended in the Adult feeding guideline. Adjust the extra food given by the number of puppies and length of nursing. Try to maintain a good body condition, however with large numbers of puppies expect to have some loss in body fat for milk production.
Feeding amounts are guidelines. Adjust based on your dog's body condition and activity level.
